2011
Summer brought hours of (voluntary) aimless lonely meandering through a dense urban jungle, sleepless nights, emptiness, hospital visits and deteriorating health. Fall semester: cue more hospital visits, dead cat, and dead friends. And the year closes again with parents completely rejecting Jesus. Slowest year. So. Ridiculously. Heartachingly. Slow. Yet the LORD made it so! I stand encouraged!...

tileternity: “One of the big problems in the Christian community is that you suddenly have access to the opposite sex. You have the right to spend time with them that you never had before. And what’s unfortunate in a way is that in the Christian community you got this thing called ‘fellowship’. It’s a pretense for having a boyfriend/girlfriend without making any romantic commitment at all.” — ...

why pursue truth anyways
It’s a wonder how I’m a stickler for correct theology when it would be bringing to light how much greater the wrath would be for my family, currently vessels prepared for destruction (Romans 9:22). Or is it that I seek to know more of God so others may know more of him too when they talk to me? … on that note, please talk to me if you have questions (willisz@seas.upenn.edu).

Merry Christmas!  →
Although I was born and raised in America, I never really believed in Santa. I guess, in part, it’s my parent’s fault; they never actually tried to convince me it was true (to be honest, I don’t think they even understood the concept). And I don’t blame them - after all, holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving were foreign holidays when they immigrated here. Our family has always been really good...

“The question is not do you wanna go to Heaven, or do you want to escape hell. The question is that has God worked so in your heart that you WANT God? The question, as I said, is not do you wanna go to Heaven, because EVERYONE wants to go to Heaven—The DEVIL would like to go to Heaven as long as he doesn’t have to bow his knee to God. Not everyone who confesses with their mouth ‘Lord, Lord’ will...

"I'm glad you've found what works for you"
From my friend Yue’s blog who got it from her friend Ophelia: I renounced my atheism almost three years ago. (Happy almost-birthday to me!) When I tell this to my old friends and acquaintances, I frequently hear, “I’m glad you’ve found what works for you.” While these may be well-intentioned words, I can’t stand them.  I did not wander around in a vacuous space of spiritual limbo until I found a...

Insecure about praying
Praying aloud in group settings was seriously the bane of my faith up until sometime last year when I learned more about God’s attributes through systematic theology. I really fell in love with Jesus by poring through the doctrines of grace; his necessity and faithfulness was made abundantly clear from studying christophanies within the Old Testament to God’s present soteriological...

tianrun324: Everyone knows the basic shortcuts such as Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V, but over the years I’ve found several extremely useful shortcuts that are less well known. I will begin with my favorite: Shift+anything = Shift is an extremely useful operand.
